E-learning in Traditional Shipbuilding
The art of traditional shipbuilding is an ancient craft that has been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. In modern times, this knowledge has been preserved through e-learning courses, making it accessible to anyone interested in learning the principles and techniques of traditional shipbuilding.
E-learning courses on traditional shipbuilding offer a unique opportunity to learn an art that has been an important part of human history for centuries. These courses typically cover a wide range of topics, including the history of shipbuilding, different types of ships that have been built throughout history, the materials and tools used in shipbuilding, and the techniques used to build ships.

The lesson ‘Making a traditional wooden boat’ is interactive, allowing students to engage with the lesson material in a more engaging way. This includes virtual simulations of shipbuilding techniques etc. It also offers students the opportunity to learn about the cultural and historical significance of shipbuilding. As part of the SaveWoodenBoats project, a series of educational modules on the principles and techniques of traditional shipbuilding have been created. The e-learning platform hosting the educational material was created by ReadLab, using the open source software Learndash. The educational material was created by the project partners ΙΑΜΥ, ΔΕΞΥΣ, ΔΝΠΚ and Politistica.
