Virtual Tour of the ‘Eleni P.’
The Virtual Reality application (Virtual Reality), has the main objective of immersing the user in a virtual world in which he will sail through the sea on the old wooden ship “Eleni P.”. In collaboration with the team of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Thessaly, which will implement the 3D object of the restored boat, it will be possible to simulate a virtual scene, in which the boat and the sea will play a leading role.
Through the simulation of the vessel, the user will be offered the possibility to see and sail one of the largest passages rescued when it was first built. The user will have an original, exciting and quite realistic experience by navigating through different parts of the passage.
This feature will unfortunately be the only way of navigating the passage, as the traditional boat has now been destroyed.
During this virtual experience, the user discovers important information about specific parts of the ship and becomes familiar with the procedures performed by the crew during the sailing. By navigating different areas of the ship and interacting with its environment, the user becomes familiar with the history and cultural significance of the traditional wooden ship.
